A friend once asked me what were my top three tips about a week after having a baby.

One of them was to look after yourself. This is so easily forgotten.

I’ve had a few health issues, and the lack of sleep has just made these worse. I wasn’t willing to compromise on giving Elle milk, but I didn’t put the connection of sleep and breastmilk and my health together strongly enough.

Now that I have, after only three nights of sleep (at 8.5 months), my milk supply is sooo much better.

This has come at a particularly important time for me, as may of the hormones in my body are recalibrating, and any signs of oxytocin highs which help me sleep and power through the day have long gone.

My thyroid is one of my health expressions I’m trying to get to the bottom of. And those numbers are off the chart, and something I want to tend to before I end out with an autoimmune situation.
