It’s what I’ve been doing for the last hour.

Yes I should be sleeping (it’s now 6am, and I fed at 4.30am, and I only got to bed at midnight), but that is not happening for me as I’ve had a million thoughts, so I’m planning on two things here:

1. If I can get it out of my head and onto paper then I will have a calmer mind and I can hopefully get to sleep.

2. I know in the past, especially when I’ve been in a flow state (even if only for a few minutes), that if I have an idea forming and I don’t write it down it can vanish as quickly as it came and this drives me berserk.

Often my ideas come out of a situation I’m trying to solve. Today it is about meal planning and cookbooks.

You see I’ve thought about doing one of these before, but now more than ever I can’t find what I’m after in the market, so I’m thinking about how I can make something fabulous for myself, quick! (And I’m also thinking about performance reviews for Newmark, and implementing change effectively at Newmark (new business systems), and… you get the idea!)

So this little note is a reminder to write things down.

Whether it be about something your little one did that you are proud of, or may want to remember in the future, or an idea you’ve had. Whether you use your phone, Evernote, a cheap Smiggle diary, the notes section of your phone, or a combination of all of the above, just get it down.

You never know when you might need it, or what it might evolve into.

I started doing this after my first born. I was absolutely inundated by ideas. They were absolutely incredible, profitable, well formed business ideas that hit a real niche in the market. Well, at least, this is how I remember them. Because I can’t remember any of them these days! No, this isn’t my memory going, (I don’t think!), but rather in an induced state of heightened awareness and presence in the situation, I was in a state of flow and these ideas just kept flowin’ out of me.

Whether they were ever actually totally amazing I’ll never really know, but I learnt my lesson – write your thoughts down.
